Some "economical" hints:

  1. Double recipes and freeze one for later (or to have on hand for a friend in need).
  2. Fix crockpot meals outside in summer heat to keep house cool.
  3. Save unused "return" envelopes to hold items/collections
  4. For small family, buy gallon of milk and freeze half
  5. Turn off computer and accessories at night or for prolonged idle periods
  6. Do laundry in cold water
  7. Set water heater to lowest comfortable setting for bathing
  8. Change furnace filter and rotate mattresses on first of each month
  9. Wear clothing multiple times before laundering
  10. Use automatic or Internet billing to save postage
  11. Use credit card with benefits for all purchases and pay balance every month
  12. Save bread crusts or stale buns for bread crumbs or croutons
