Don’t you always feel the feeling of a fresh start on Easter? It’s spring. You’re forgiven. Time to move forward without the baggage. Then you eat all the big meals and the chocolate candy and it’s over. Back to where you were! Yet just looking at the word Easter fills you with so many feelings and memories, experiences and traditions both new and old. Here’s what a few of our moms do for Easter. Feel free to add your own traditions with ours, just comment below.
Kameron: For Easter, we typically wake up and find the baskets the Easter Bunny has
hidden around the house. Sometimes he makes the morning fun by hiding
baskets at our home and the eggs at Grandpa & Grandma's house, so we'll go
over there for lunch/dinner depending on church. The kids have the egg hunt
(the Easter Bunny always hides equal numbers of eggs for each child), and
then we'll have a nice dinner, with ham, potatoes, a green vegetable, a
salad, and a super-yummy dessert! It's a great holiday, and especially nice
to remember the true meaning (aside from all the candy).
Sangita: I hide eggs early in the morning before everyone gets up, then when everyone is up and has had breakfast, one of us (mom or dad) quietly goes outside, rings the doorbell and hides, leaving an egg. This is the signal that the Easter Bunny had come and left some goodies. The kids then go outside for their hunt!
Tami: We always hide an Easter basket for each of our kids. When they were really little, I wasn’t sure how they would find it, so we left a trail of jelly beans for them to follow that leads to their basket. So we leave a different trail for each of our kids. It’s been a fun tradition.
Sharon: We’ve always hidden candy for the kids to find in the morning. It never takes long for that to happen. What we do that’s a little bit different, is buy a bunch of new pool toys, rafts and diving rings and even though it’s still a little cold to swim they are ready to go in the summer! The kids also still like to color eggs, probably because my husband always does some money eggs. When they find that egg, he has to pay up! When we were growing up, I always remember dressing up and going to the 6AM sunrise service. With our kids, they dress casual and we go early 8AM to avoid the crowd.
