Momisms

It would be so easy for me just to go make the beds.  And it takes 10 times as long to get them to make the beds.  But that’s my job.  It’s not my job to make the bed, it’s my job to make them make the bed.

Mother's Day

Print PDF
mothers_dayEvery mother knows how hard this job of mothering really is.  And every child knows how important a mom is and how special she is to us.  What does mom really want on Mother’s Day.  Our moms have some ideas!  Oh and be sure to add your own!
Carly "I like to go to church on Mother's Day with my husband and kids and go out to eat at a fun place. When my kids were in diapers, it was my rule on Mother's Day to NOT have to change ANY diapers! What I would LIKE to do on Mother's Day, or a day that week, is take a whole day to go get a pedicure, see a movie, have lunch with my girlfriends, shop and just sit and read for a while. We'll see if it actually happens!"
Nataiya"For Mother's day I usually enjoy a nice day of pampering. I like to go to the spa for a pedi and mani, and usually enjoy a nice dinner prepared by my boys. What I would love to do this year is spend the day at Dolce Salon and enjoy a massage, facial, mani, pedi and hair styling. That is my dream mother's day wish! :)"
Priscilla"This will be my first Mother's Day back home with my Mom and aunts looking forward to it. Since my grandmother passed more than 11 years ago, we have a tradition of visiting the cemetery early morning to pray the rosary and just reminisce. She died a few days before Mother's Day, so it just worked out that way. She was the tie that held our family together."
Sangita"I love to spend Mother's Day with my family and with my mom and dad.  My birthday is also very close to Mother's Day, so it becomes a double treat.  The best thing I ever got on Mother's Day was a Spa Day courtesy of my kids.  They gave me a manicure ,pedicure and ran a nice hot bubble bath for me!  It was heavenly!"
Tami"My one rule on Mother's day is that I don't cook.  The trouble is that nice restaurants aren't really kid-friendly, expensive and a long wait on Mother's Day. So that means that we usually end up at a fast food place with a disappointed mom.  My new plan for this year is to try an Indian restaurant.  I'm thinking that there won't be so much of a crowd there.  What do you think?"
Sharon"The problem with Mother’s Day is that everybody celebrates it on the same day, it takes all the fun out of the thought put in when you have to wait or can’t even get a seat someplace.  Some years I don’t mind cooking for a gang and some years I do.  The one thing that’s important is for Mother’s Day to be different from any other Sunday.  It doesn’t have to be fancy, just different!"
Rita"Mother's Day for most of my life (I've been a mom for 44+ years) was about the worst day of the year because I used to have scads of unmet expectations. Now I have no expectations and it works out well. But I do remember my only daughter on Mother's Day since my mom is with Jesus."
Susan A"On Mother's Day, I love to be served coffee in bed!  There are so few times in the year when I enjoy this treat!  Then, my guys make breakfast and call me when it's ready -- this is a huge change from the regularly scheduled daily program!  After we eat, my guys will have a fruit pie or cake for me and a few gifts, too! Then we all pick up and get ready for the day.  We'll all go out to my choice of restaurant for lunch.  Now, that my sons are older, they don't enjoy mall shopping with mom, so they head home with dad and I enjoy a "mom's afternoon off" of shopping. My husband's mom and my mom live out-of-state so we'll send them each a nice card, a gift check and now that I am into beading, I'll also send them each a necklace and earring set.”
